Nigerian scammers should die....

So, I have never used Ebay, but a friend of mine has. I have a 2nd Xbox Premium and he has an HD projector that he wants to get rid of, so we decided to bundle them together and sell them as a package.

My friend listed the items (spending 3 hours taking pics and working up the description). We set a buy it now price that would be nice to hit and a bidding reserve that we needed at an absolute minimum.

He lists the item last night and I see that it's already been sold at the buy it now price this morning. I got a bit of a hard on because we got more than we planned for it. Then I noticed the buyer had no feedback and was not registered.

A call from my friend confirmed my fears. The buyer had already had his Ebay account revoked. He had emailed my friend saying he (the buyer) was from Illinois, but living in London and that he'd prefer the Xbox and projector be shipped to his daughter in Nigeria.

Yeah, sure, let me drop that in the mail for you this afternoon fvckface.

Now we have to start all over again and think hard about if we even want to bother with the buy it now price. We can set limits on who can buy (i.e., only buyers from the US) but that won't stop fvckers like him because he claimed he was from the states, just currently out of country.

As for fees, hopefully all fees for our original auction will be refunded. It looks like the most will be hit with is $20. That's still $20 I could have used for something other than to try and get scammed with.

All I'm asking for is a Seal team or two to hunt these fvckers down. Is that too much to ask???? I think not.

not sure how this works, but I remember reading on some other 360 ebay thread something about saying bidders with no feedback have to contact the seller before bidding. I dont' recall seeing that option when setting up an auction though...

Yep, there's an option to restrict bidders with bad feedback etc now. Just relist the auction and tighten up the terms of sale, stuff like "PayPal verified only" "no overseas sales" etc...

You can also do an immediate payment buy it now. That way the buy it now can't be used unless it is paid for.

Plus, if we classify economic thieves as terrorists, then we'll have to apply that standard to the very corporate citizens that are plundering the human citizens.
Besides, who else will pay for the politicians?

The sad part is eBay does absolutely NOTHING to prevent this kind of crap. The funny thing is the Nigerian scammers are so rampent and keep creating new accounts over and over again. I think eBay actually likes this and are supporting these scammers, because it makes the sellers relist their items again (more money for eBay).
The only way to stop this is to do immediate payment, but you can't do worldwide with this option checked. Also there are options where you can say people with -1 or less feedback cannot bid. Must be registered with Paypal and something else.
Your best bet is to do immediate payment and if possible try to ship to a confirmed address or wait for 24hours - 2 days before shipping it. And make sure the wait times are on business days so the idiots at PayPal might actually catch the transaction if it is fraudulent. Anyways eBay and PayPal are two of the most worthless companies when it comes to protecting your money and products, but are the only two businesses that are available for the online auction world (Yes there are other companies, but no where near as popular).

That is precisely why I don't use Ebay to sell through or buy from myself.

you should send him the xbox 360 Box with ****** in it and have a letter that says "from america to you"

BTW: who would buy an xbox 360 AND a hd projector to top it all off?
