Most people in Africa have very little raw material, sparatic electrical power, equipment resources, and even less money available. But somehow they manage do build some of the most amazing things like this made from scratch helicopter.. These people remind me of what a famous Frenchman (forgot the name) visiting the USA in the early 1800's (Not verbatim) "Americans are tinkers, everywhere you look, somebody is tinkering with somthing in their barn. It just amazes me as I do not see this happening in my home country" he goes on to say "this nation will certainly make something great out of it's self" (again not verbaitm). If what I say is true, Africa in 100 years could become the worlds next great economic empire to rival the US or China.

I belive we Americans have lost touch with many of the things that have made us a great nation, we certainly could (re)learn a lot from these very thrifty and cleaver people and America could be better if we did.

Huh?

Just for comparison purposes.

See I just don't agree with you there and I'm not sure you really want to go down that road without this topic becoming into a P&N thread.

But I can limit myself on this note. America is and always will be a great nation. Like WWII, all it takes is one spark or one push to wake up the sleeping giant.

Thats not Democrat vs Republican Capitol Hill talk. Just an observation of todays society, throwaway lifestyle, and service economy. We are highly wasteful and use the majorty of global resources; Everywhere I look, I do not aways see people tinkering. Just a few, but not many like the Frenchman observed and the history books report. An example is Heathkit, the company went under many years ago and there is nothing in existence today that is either an old competitor or replacement of what they provided. Radio Shack hardly sells electrical components. Heathkit went under because people did not want it anymore and Radio Shack has long moved out of the market.

I'll cut your hair, if you cut my lawn...

You are aware that Africa is a continent and not a nation, yes?

Talented kid for building that from scrap parts but if it's maximum altitude is 7 feet
it's not too useful.

Pretty useful in the sense that that chopper could very well land him a full ride to a nice US university.

Heh, people who don't learn from history are funny.

Are you aware that there are no actual nations in the continent of Africa? No, because you don't know what a nation is.

You're going to have to expand on that one...

As a random example, I'm pretty certain Kenya is a nation. I'm also pretty certain it's in Africa. I'm also pretty certain it's part of the contiguous African continent

Yes, I know Africa is a continent, I am speaking in general and it's hard to speak about the future. Perhaps we'll see an African Union in the future.
