American’s most trusted name in bar graphs, Nielsen, released an updated look at smartphone market share distribution today. The results aren’t terribly surprising: Android is growing, and quickly at that. Blackberry’s free-fall into the abyss has slowed to a steady death march. But what about Apple’s fare?

I'll let you look at the graphs yourselves, but I'll summarize. RIM continues downward trend in market share, though its sales seem to have leveled off and are no longer dropping like stones. Apple's pretty much flat, both in market share and sales, only marginal increases. Sales of the iP4 driven by 3GS owners upgrading? Android, obviously, the big winner. Sales skyrocking, market share skyrocketing. 2011 should be an interesting year too.

We all know that CES this weekend will bring several tablet announcements, a few of which have already jumped the gun slightly. eLocity, Toshiba, Via, etc. There's also bound to be some juicy tidbits on upcoming Cortex A15 designs for further down the road. Engadget has a link to Freescale's Cortex A9 SoC design. I'm aware of a few Chinese Android tablets being driving by their 800Mhz A8 design, but I've no details about its relative performance. Few threads I've read on it at Slate Droid seem positive, but with the half baked firmware we've come to expect on the Chinese tablets.
