Nielsen: Men Spend More on Video Games Than Music

I'm glad to post in the most worthless thread ever.

edit: the first poster none-the-less

Nielsen also examined the amount of time spent playing alone versus socially and found that 79 percent of men and 79 percent of women over the age of 45 spend most of their time playing alone. Teen-age women tended to play more socially, Nielsen said, while women 25-54 are roughly split between playing alone and with others.

Overall, the firm said, active gamers tend to spend just over 5 hours a week playing alone and 3 hours a week playing with people or online.

One of the funniest things I've ever seen, somewhere between retinal cancer and getting skinned alive.

Yes! I win the Most Worthless Thread Ever Award!

You guys are a harsh crowd today. I didn't even read the article, I just thought it was typical of us guys is all.

This isn't worthless, but its relevance ends up falling into the realm of P&N.

Here goes:

This study lends credence those who say that the contracting sales in the music business aren't due to illegal downloading but are more due to increased competition from newer media in the entertainment sector. Only so many hours a day, so many hours fewer spent listening to music, thus so many dollars less spent on music.

This would support the findings of studies, based both on survey as well as econometric data, that downloading music does not have a discernable effect on overall record sales.

Phew. Got that out of my system.

This thread is worthless without pics.

Not sure why this is funny, but on a related note, my father is approaching 50 and has beaten Q2, HL (and expansions), MOHAA (plus all expansions), Far Cry and HL2 on every difficulty level. He hasn't moved on to online gaming yet though.

Oh well, only video game I play is solitaire on my cell phone, but I would gladly pay lots of money for it if I had to. 😛

This is obvious. Writing an article about it shouldn't have been necessary.

I think it's funny that they even had to do an article about it.
