But I did like him as Big Daddy in Kick-Ass more than I liked Bale as Batman in The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises (I still don't understand how that has an 8.5 on IMDB), though, so I wouldn't immediately discount that he could have made a good Superman... though he doesn't quite look the part in that footage.

I think I've watched this video 3 times.

I own his three stand-up videos (unless there's a new one!?), and regardless of whether you like his movies, the stand-up can be hilarious to watch. He'll probably remind you of your grandpa (or an engineer), because you ask them a simple question, and Smith goes off on a long 10-20 minute story.

Superman 2 Remember Richard Donner didn't really have final cut powers over the ones he directed

TLDR: Richard Donner's vision with modern special effects... beats "Let's make Superman as sulky as Nolan's Batman"
