Nick Cannon slammed as racist for dressing in 'white face' to promote upcoming album

honestly he looks fairly white with his makeup which maybe shows how little difference there is between races

White people shouldn't do blackface, black people shouldn't do white face. Exception, Robery Downey, Jr in Tropic Thunder because it was awesome.

Nick Cannon gets slammed for it, but Dave Chappelle did it regularly on this show and it was okay. I guess that is because Dave Chappelle is actually funny.

hilarious how people cry about shit like this when certain people do it, but when dave chappelle does it as chuck taylor everyone just laughs about it.

I think you are missing the point.

One side is trying to point out hypocrisy, the other is claiming racism.

The ironic part is that both sides are white. The "its racist" side is a bunch of old liberal women, who condescendingly feel they need to tell African Americans when they are offended and when they aren't.

Charles Barkley just went off on a rant a few weeks back about this sort of stuff.

Maybe it wasn't the face, but was the name? Connor Smallnut?

Whites already know that we have to protect our women from getting any BBC because they'll be lost forever to it, it's hateful to actively spread the smallness of deeznuts.

if black people cry racism when whites dress in blackface, then it should also be racist when blacks dress up in whiteface. I personally dont give a crap in either situation

sadly people only care about racism when its done by whites against the blacks.like how you hear about trayvon martin but they ignore all the other storys like the black teens shooting white babys in the face

This is another situation where we all "know" that it's not meant to be racist, but we go ahead and complain anyway because we think it could be construed as racist. This is a dangerous path to go down. Things aren't racist because someone somewhere "might" interpret them as racist. They're racist because of the intent of the people responsible for them. I don't think he was trying to be anything but funny. It doesn't even matter if it's not actually funny. The intent is what matters.

This stuff happens far more often with the racial sides reversed. To be more exact, it's usually white people doing something without the intent of being racist while minority groups and their defenders cry foul because they can somehow envision racism in the act. The Washington Redskins controversy and a guy who opened a restaurant called "beloved patriot's" are some recent things that come to mind. My takeaway from all of them was the same as here. No one was trying to be racist, so it's not racist.

this was never about the thread title, but only simply to raise publicity for his album, which people will do for him by arguing over the topic in question without him having to do much except make a stupid joke that was done already, and better.
