The size will be little bigger cause With the 15.2 wide screen, But its thin and light. I saw alot of widescreen laptop in japan and so far this widescreen is the best i saw in US.

does any one ever own one of these laptop. I just need some feedback on the build and quality.

I might be getting this. I really like the style. may be just different personal taste.

My opinion about performance was not stated in my last post, so I guess I will say it now...
If we go by this computers specs, it should be a solid performer. Although VPR Matrix made an odd choice for the graphice selection, the 420 chip should perform just fine. I only point this out due to your comparrison of this to an apple, which comes with Radeon 7500 and 9000 series chips (the 420 is in the 12" powerbook, but I suspect this is due to the small nature of the core and Apple was trying to keep it small). This will fall in the middle of those chips. This machine is obviously in the desktop replacement category and not the portable category, so why not make that HD a 5400rpm one?
The USB and Firewire ports will make hooking up external accessories that much easier.

Yeah.. I wish the hardrive is 5400rpm too. well I could always change to a better and faster harddrive in the future.

Thanks for your comments.

i wouldn't get that if i were u. i heard so many horror story about them. heat problem, keys coming off... those notebook are bestbuy brands and they used to sell for 2000. the price has drop to around 1000 now at bestbuy and most of the store don't even sell them anymore. i think there is a reason for them to lower the price and trying to get rid of them so quick. you can go to cnet.com and find out some of the comments that people left about their experience with it. i was going to buy that laptop, but after doing some research on it i quickly make my decision not to. if you want to get a widescreen laptop you should look into dell. i know they sell one of them and you can get it for under 2000.

I own one of these laptops... First of all you guys have NOO idea what you're talking about. Laptop is made by VPR Matrix which is a subsidiary of best buy. It is actually made by F.A. Porsche. These laptops are very high build quality. They have 2ghz P4M proc, 512ddr, 40gig 4200rpm, dvd/cdrw SLOT load, built in wireless, Nicest screen you can buy (15.2" widescreen), spdif out, etc etc. IT is actually Very light for its size, around 6lbs IIRC. If you do have any problems, VPR has the best support out there. you get the laptop back 5 days after you send it in, in perfect working condition. hopefully this will never happen. There are a few known problems with this laptop, i;lll be honest, but what laptop doesnt have 1 or 2 flaws?? the only flaws are "mushy" keyboard which i actually find easier to type on, shortish wireless range, and thats about it.... They go for $1500 at best buy, and they are so cheap because VPR is coming out with a new model line any day now.

also- i've never had ANY problems with it. I am currently running both Red Hat 8.0 and win2k, both run GREAT. the screen is amazing for DVDs and games alike, laptop gets very good battery life 3hrs+ considering the hardware components, etc. Its very thing, slot load is niiiiice, and tons other things.

any questions? email me

I've heard a a lot of bad things about. Enough to prevent me from buying one.

I've also read in a few places that Best Buy is dropping the vprMatrixline which would explain why the laptops have become so scarce.

F.A. Porsche did not make it, they did the design. They are a design house and design all kinds of products for other companies.

IMO It is one of the better looking notebooks.
