your snow walk reminded me of one that my brother and I took when I was 10~12.
He got up quietly at midnight and tried to sneak out, but little brother here busted him

The snow was 6~10" deep and huge flakes were falling, illuminated by the sodium lights on the barns and garages. We trudged off silently, but for the scrunch scrunch of our steps.
I had no idea what the mission was, but I was down for it. We walked a half mile or so and then headed off across country, through fences and large pastures.
Somebody spotted us! He turned on more lights and then started spotlighting the area with a large flashlight.
We burrowed down in the deep snow, in a hollow, and waited him out. Perhaps he thought we were breaking into his barn and going to steal some tack or something, who knows. Phil never told me the nature of the mission and I think it was what transpired, an adventure in the snow at midnight.
Once the rancher went back in, we belly down scurried backward like we saw in the movies, then returned home. Nothing was said.
The next day the nosy next door neighbor spoke of somebody out late and up to no good, and he could see where the tracks led.
He was a self righteous asshole and my parents ignored him.
