ya know I was heading out but when I get back tonight I was going to look into it...

I read a review of it in a magazine today called PC MODDER it was a glowing review!!!
They said it was as good as the XP90 copper....

But I can`t find anymore reviews on it!!

I will say one thing-- it sure looks different!!

I had one. Stay away, far far away. My Northwood was hitting over 85C at load, around 65-70C under idle. If you want passive, get a Ninja.

I believce if your Northwood was hitting 85c it would have damaged the CPU....

supposedly something around 75c to 80c would cause your CPU to automatically shut
down!

With that said there could be any number of possibilities...
Yet what counts in the end was you got your problem solved!!

Still looking for more than one review....

Ya know I was searching and thet company started in 2003....

Anyways!! Have fun all!!

This has been around for awhile now; it's meant to be paired with a specific SilverStone case.

85c is pretty hot but it not hot enough to cause damage, the only reason it would shut down is if the MB is set to cut power at that temp threshold.

Before the SilverStone NT01 V2.0 Nitrogen, there was the ThermalTake Fanless 103:

ThermalTake Fanless 103

We took a long look at this more than a year-and-a-half ago, but the reviews were mostly hype. It doesn't mean it isn't any good, but I'm cautious, and the XP-120 seemed to get more rave notices with specific bench results and less hype.

It's designed to fit some ThermalTake cases like the Silverstone is designed to fit Silverstone cases, but it would probably work -- as would the Silverstone -- with any system that had rear-mounted exhaust fans of the appropriate size. If the fans weren't the ideal size or a perfect locational match, you could duct the fins to the fans. In fact, you could duct the (2x80mm) by 80mm Nitrogen to a 120mm fan if you had to.

When they say "fanless," I have to snicker a bit, because "fanless" means a minimally acceptable cooling performance no matter how you cut it. I would, for instance, try to use the Scythe Ninja with two 120mm fans oriented perpendicular to each other and facing two adjoining sides of the Ninja's heatsink-fin array.

These things are likely to be heavier -- the TT is in excess of 750 grams. The Silverstone is better in that respect at just in excess of 570 grams. So the ThermalRight units have them beat on the issue of weight.

As to weight, both of these units hang off the processor mount quite some distance from it. So that means not just "weight," but "torque."

The P4 has thermal throttling to prevent damage to the processor. Everything is fine. Tom's Hardware even ran an experiment where they ran a P4 without a heatsink. Thanks to thermal throttling it ran extremely slowly, but the chip worked without being damaged.

I had the Silverstone in a 3700AMB with the grills cut out, with the heatsinks pointed towards the rear 120mm fan, WITH a duct constructed. Dropped load temps down to 83C, whoppee. It's been shown to work okay in the Silverstone case with the wind tunnel, but it sucks for any other case/

Looks are nearly irrelevant when it comes to HSFs, but it sure sucks in the rubes...

.bh.

For the Uninformed: "rubes" = ignorant bumpkins eager to be parted from their money. :D
