I just bought some speakers at a pawn shop, they are not to shabby either. problem is that now for some reason i cannot pump up the bass, and that sucks. So any ideas on what is going on?

How do you have everything connected? And what models of speakers/sub/sound card?

yup everything is hook up correctly, and it is hooked up to a stereo. Either my roommater screwed them up, or the power went out.
