Hmmm... good idea but those gimmicky tools are usually no use for real work.

this one actually works pretty well supposedly.

We've got one at the cal poly mechanical engineering shop. I guess it works exactly as described, when your hand gets within something like 1/4 " the thing just stops and drops.
