My entire collection of music is basically just hard rock and hip hop. I want to expand my tastes. Whats some nice relaxing music? Jazz, classical, anything is good.

Some of these are great suggestions, but I'm leaning more towards non rock no singer type music.

Also Sleep-inducing? Well, most New Age stuff is... John Tesh, Yanni... :p

I like some good fusion like Casiopea (Japanese fusion) or some standard singers like Diana Krall. Some of McCoy Tyner's stuff (piano) is great to chill to... if you want more modern guitar stuff, I also like Pat Metheny's stuff. Kenny Burrell I like a lot too. Great to chill, hang out... good background stuff. Upbeat enough to not be sleep inducing... not intrusive. Some of Metheny's music can be described as atmospheric.

Wind Machine, Bruce Kaphan "Sliders" & Craig Chaquico (nice & soothing acoustic/pedal-steel guitar work)
David Lanz (calming piano)
David Arkenstone (mind-opening and relaxing new-age stuff)

Classical's very good for these purposes, too, naturally. I find these types of music occupying my playlists more and more as I get older, bit-by-bit, progressing further into adulthood... escapism! :Q :p

Pink Floyd - Us and Them (I think it should be illegal for car radios to play this song cause it almost puts me to sleep every time)
Robin Trower - Spellbound

I rather enjoy many of the songs on either of the Lord of the Rings soundtracks. Laugh if you want, but I find many of them to be relaxing to me, especially with the way Howard Shore mixes the instruments together to create certain themes.

Anything by Jim Hall, specifically Power of Three's Bimini...but basically anything by him.
