I go to take the movie I got from Netflix out of its slip case and it breaks in two...wtf? i assume it was broken during shipping.

Did you still eat the popcorn or did you just run to the computer to post about this tragic event?
 
Go online, tell them it was broken using their automated form. They will cross ship you a new one tomorrow.
 
I've gotten 2-3 DVDs from Netflix that were cracked and unplayable. Just report it online and they'll probably have the replacement out to you the next day.
