http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog...enate-democrats-forced-block-obama-jobs-bill/

Senate Republicans tried to make Democrats hold a quick vote on President Obama's jobs-stimulus bill Tuesday, but were blocked by Senate Majority Harry Reid, the Nevada Democrat who is sponsoring Mr. Obama's bill but who said other matters take priority.

I curse the day I voted for that man. But I thank him for making the point that it doesn't take one Republican to make this administration and congress look bad.

What statement is that? That Reid is smart enough not to bring it to a vote until he has the votes to pass it? And that McConnell is just grandstanding?

ROFL. Ah so its smart when the left block votes, but when the right do it, its partisan politics and they are wrong. Got it.

Harry Reid is monkey ball sweat. But if I wanted to pass something, even just for political points knowing it's DOA in the House, I'd certainly wait until all the necessary votes had been bought and/or coerced.

Washington Times and Weekly Standard? Lulz

Tried to find the story on one of the alphabet networks but I didn't want to know what Snooki was eating or what the guests on The View had to say today. Sorry.

Funny how Republicans are never accused of this in here.

If the bill is any good, it should pass on it's own merits. Reid shouldn't have to go pimp it out and bribe people into voting for it. Whatever though, you're nothing but a political tool who pimps divide by thinking any one group is better than the other.

Lies. If the bill was actually good the republicans would make sure to vote it down so obama cant get credit for it and possibly win next election.

Harry is just using reverse psychology ... that's what wise men do.

So when Cantor or Boehner don't vote on the bill, obummer slams them for not getting with the (socialist & wasteful) program, but then Reid himself doesn't bring it up for a vote and that's peachy? So which is it, is not bringing it up for a vote good or bad?

Democrats are modifying Obama's jobs bill to please Republicans with a tax increase. How thoughtful!

If the merits of a bill are what determines its liklihood of passage then Congress has really been doing a stellar job all along. Has Congress been doing a stellar job? Since when?

That would be 1995 - 2000.*

* I'm assuming by "stellar" you actually meant marginally less fucked up than usual.

Since when has politics not come into play in any bill in Congress? By stellar I mean what bfdd was suggesting, that if a bill is good, it will pass and if it is bad, it won't. That doesn't describe the way our Congress functions for the most part.

Wasn't 1995-2000 when Congress dismantled regulation of the financial services and ditched Glass-Steagall? One of the worst pieces of legislation we've had in the last 50 years IMO.

Let me see if I got this right.

Obama: PASS THIS JOBS BILL NOW!

Republicans
: Ok, let's vote.

Democrats: No. Calling for a vote on the bill is just a political ploy. Stop playing partisan games.

Obama: SEE! REPUBLICANS WON'T PASS THE BILL! REPUBLICANS DON'T WANT YOU TO HAVE JOBS! THEY'RE TOO BUSY GOING ON VACATION!

Media, to Republicans: Well? Why ARE you going on vacation instead of giving people jobs?

Republicans: le sigh.

This exactly. It is silly for Obama to say that the Repubs will not let the bill be voted on. Some in his own party do not even like the bill.

Reid knows what he's doing. Tax increases on the wealthy are inevitable, and highly popular among the electorate, being favored almost 3 to 1. When he has the support from his own party, he'll try to bring it to a vote. Senate Repubs will likely duck, let the Repub HOR kill it, unless McConnell can do a reverse face on the head of a pin. They'll kill any new spending or tax increase bill automatically. Cut, cut, cut! Remember?

Repubs don't care about jobs- they want the economy to remain depressed or get even worse- in their eyes, it's the best way to Beat Obama! provided they don't have to wear it themselves.

Reid is fitting them up for the rat jacket they so richly deserve.
