Nice illustration of ghosting

Or the 5ms ones Dell 16ms is beating... For those of us who been following toms, xbit, behardware etc we've known for years monitor makers are extremly "optimistic" with thier stats. Some makers are worse than others. Contrast is another stat they "game" going as high as 2000 these days when no LCD has ever tested above 500.

It's sad really for the consumer who buys on price and lies only to get home with garbage. Thats what makes Xknights LCD thread so valuable - someone who has done all the research and read all the reviews giving you guys who don't have time the low down on best LCDs. John Q Public is still screwed though.

No doubt Xknigtht does a great service for the readers of this forum but the buyer should also be reading to see what professional reviewers say. Anyone that has been into computers for a while now knows when it comes to monitors its not just about pricing and ms speed. You got to look at actual real world performance tests ontop of that. Relying on just one source isnt a good idea either IMO. I like to read alot of reviews to give me the info I need. Basically get a concensus. The average user probably wont do this though.

Wow, the Dell looks like it has great results. That and the NEC 20WGX2... looks like I've some more LCD research to do.

bah i cant afford that NEC....

do they have anything with a monitor similar to mine? I would like to see how i stack

Problem with the Dell, and they talk about it is this review, is it's a panel lottery if you'll get a IPS, and which one, or something else. There is no gaurantee on make of the panel. Also dell pays less than NEC/SONY/LG and gets lower grade panels. All panels are not the same even same model # from say Samsung, very wide in quality. There is a reason NEC costs 2x what Dells does even though they use same model # panel sometimes.
