nice haul

one of the customers at the datacenter I work at decided to get a cage space and setup a new network, and phase out all their machines in the shared datacenter area. They just bought several EMC storage boxes, about 60 2xquad core dell servers, and bunch of network gear. In the cage, they have about 30 "questionable" servers that had problems and they elected to use new hardware to replace the server because while the server might be worth $400-$1000, loosing customers is worth more so they don't risk the customers on questionable machines..

Thing is, they are based out of canada, and we are in st. louis.. Shipping the servers back to them is cost preventative, especially for equipment they might just toss because they dont want to spend the labor troubleshooting it.. One of the engineers just flew in last night, and as I was talking to him, he asked if I would want any of the machines because they were just going to trash them... Servers range from p3 1ghz machines to 3.0Ghz p4's... about 30 in all..

I have an office in the same building, so im just going to take them all down there and see if I can't salvage some stuff...
