I'm looking to build a new system, most likely I'm getting athlon 2500+ and will plan to overclock a little bit. What is a good reasonably priced case (preferably under 75$) that hase a window on it, and will allow good airflow. I would also like to buy all my components, case, mb, processor, and memory from 1 store, newegg seems good, so i would prefer the case to be available there. One other thing, what type of RAM should i get, will 2700 be enough if i plan to overclock.

Thanks

Newegg sells an Aluminum Chieftec Server Chassis with a window on it for $68 + $15 Shipping. If you get ram you should think about getting PC3200 like Corsair XMS or Kingston Hyper X. I bought 1gb of PC2700 and am now regretting not getting PC3200.

like hitech said, XMS or hyperX pc3200. for the case, rather than getting the $68 one which has $15 making it $83, i would get the same case with the 450W foxconn PSU (and off course the window) for $95 and free shipping

go with my choice its the best bang for buck and u definately dont need a bigger power supply than 350...i have a 250 now with geforce4 ti4200, soundblaster, network card, 2 cd-rws, 2 80 gig HDD, athlon 1800+ 512 ram....no problems

it's also a pain in the ass when moving it from home to dorm and back. i remember once the parking lot by my dorm was full and i carried my case about 50 yards. needless to say, it was not fun

Ok one in calling LAN parties gay, u prolly dissed a large ammount of this board, weight is an issue, and spending a few extra bucks will be well worth it, to make your case 15-20lbs less. You've gotta move your PC around at sometime or another, and back surgery is expensive. Aluminum also disipates hd heat better. The Chieftec Dragon/Scorpian cases are ideal for air flow, they are basically like a wind tunnel inside!

As for PSU size, it depends on brand, for an Antec, lower power ones will work well, but i've had a number of generic 300 watt PSU's just plain not work on a system like that. For generic PSU's it's always a good idea to consider getting 400 watt or higher, otherwise there's a decent chance you won't be too happy when u try and turn on your computer.

As for memory, get some 3200 XMS, you'll be able to get at least 3000+ speeds out of that CPU or prolly 3200+ speeds. just as long as u got a good overclocking motherboard and memory.

Niwi, I understand where you are coming from, because I have an x-dreamer, and don't go to lan parties... but you can't get away with calling lan parties gay if you have a (pre)-modded case. They are just as gay.

Holy crap 4 front fans!? lol that'll be plenty god for air flow, doesnt include a PSU though. Make sure if ur running 4 front fans they arnt real noisy fans... Think of what using some Vantec Tornados would sound like if u had four runnin in the front, lol you'd get complaints from neighbors.

Yea I'm happy with it.
It looks nice and the airflow is great (tons of 80mm holes)
I definitely recommend it.

Well, I used the power supply from the x-dreamer to build a computer for a friend. I use an antec smartpower 350 (w/ a panaflo L1a replacement fan) in the x-dreamer, which is silent. I have the 4 exhaust (2 rear, psu, top blowhole), a window intake duct, and 2 of the possible 4 front intakes. All the case fans are 80mm Panaflo L1a's attached to 2 rheobusses, and a zalman 92mm zm-f2 for the heatsink fan.
The computer is extremely quiet when fine-tuned.
I'd especially recommend this case especially is you have a motherboard is of the variety where the cpu socket is set closer to the rear panel ports (e.g. Asus a7n8x)
This makes it so that the pre-cut window hole is directly over the cpu and makes a very efficient intake duct.
