Nice Article on Keanu

"Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

He didn't give away the money to his castmates - he gave it so they could finish the special effects on the movie since they were overbudget.

There was another article posted a while ago that stated how he had given away a large portion of his earnings to the crew that worked on the film, and he also donated a huge sum to a foundation for the disease that I beleive his sister (and maybe mother?) died of. It also talked about how he lived in hotel rooms, and is one of the most modest people you will ever meet.

Yeah, he gave it up to finish the films. Though he still gets a certain % of the film revenue, so its not like he did the thing for free. Still a nice thing to do though, and I don't think most actors would do it.

Yes he gave up his salary to give more budget to the visual effects but in doing so he got a contract stating that he gets 10-20% (I think it is 20%) of the box office earnings!!! That is massive. I think I heard it will total around $80 million in his pocket. His original salary was probably around 15-20m for both films (wild guess).

He also bought all his stunt doubles harleys IIRC.

He also gave the stunt crew(?) Harley's I think during the second movie (because of the chase scene).

"He's very funny when he decides not to talk," says Laurence Fishburne, who co-stars as Morpheus in "The Matrix" movies. "I wish I knew how to do it. I've watched him and Clint Eastwood do it. It's amazing. They can just not talk, and that's that."

haha 🙂

hmmm. so if i dont talk, will i be cool too?

Fausto1, cnn has a lot of useless articles. maybe this just another one. and besides, wouldnt they have an article on the matrix instead of keeanu if they really were advertising for the movie?

Regardless, some people just seem to bash him and associate him with Ted. To me he seems like a decent guy that hasn't let stardom get to his head like alot of other actors and actresses.

Any press is good press, right?

All I'm saying is that you have to think about who owns what before you take anything in an article to heart. 😉

Another good example is this thread CBS is owned by Viacom who own Paramount Pictures so of course they're going to place all the blame at the feet of internet pirates and not bother addressing other reasons the entertainment industry is in the sh*tter these days.

Reeves underacts similar to how Gary Cooper played a character. Some people see this as a negative but I think in the long run he will be recognized as a very good actor.

Very nice detective work, Fausto. 🙂 Still, it doesn't invalidate the article, and it looks like Keanu is a cool dude...Ted.

They actually had a very negative review for the third Matrix movie up on their site earlier.

I just don't get it. These actors have more money that they or their progeny will ever, ever know what to do with. Plus Keanu get's HUGE back-take % on the movies that makes his salary look like nothing........THERE IS NO QUESTION Keanu's agent negotiated POINTS for giving up salary for SFX polish.

We're not talking about dumbf*ck people here folks. Keanu & management know what they are doing.

............Plus, what's the big deal?

..............Did you know Francis Ford Coppola faced personal bankruptcy for the over-budget "Apocalypse Now"? They put their entire estate as collateral to finish the last 1/3 of the movie. Coppola's wife said WTF, we can always start over and recoup from the next movie. Sure, a million dollar Director can always make a lifetime's earning with a futre movie.

Paul Newman said that he wished he talked and moved less in his movies, ala James Dean (his hero). He thinks this is the best way of acting.

Sure, if you don't talk or move, how is ANYONE going to really get a GOOD take of JUDGING you? 😉
