I may be moving to Phoenix short term (6 months) for a work assignment, and I know nothing about the area (the job is actually in goodyear). Anyone who lives around there, what are nice areas to live? I get reimbursed for rent while I'm out there, so cost isn't a huge deal.

Thanks

I would say that the best place to live if working in Goodyear would be in Glendale or one of the West Phoenix suburbs. Avondale is pretty close to Goodyear also, but you will have to be selective of the neighborhood if choosing Avondale as there are some places there with gang activity. I would say Glendale would be the best option on the West side of Phoenix.

I lived in the Chandler/Mesa area for almost 9 years in the late 80's and 90's.

It's been about 3 years since I lived in Phoenix. But if you are working on the west side you'll probably want to avoid the East Valley. The traffic getting back and forth would blow.

PM Adul. He lives(or did) in Avondale and could probably give better ideas on that side of the metro. The only time I went over that way was for BBQ's at his place.

There are a lot of nice places to see and hangout in Scottsdale... especially in the Old Town area.

Yeah but driving to goodyear every morning on the 202/I10/I17 would be the suck.

If the 303 was open i would say maricopa but thats out of the question.

Do you want something quiet and peaceful b/c buckeye is great for that and still developing. If you want something with more people you might want to just look in goodyear as there are nice spots there also.

I have lived in North Phoenix for about five years. It is decent if you live above the 101, but pretty far from Goodyear.

One more thing. Phoenix is split in the middle my central ave. All North/South streets are in order.
-Anything West of Central is an AVE and is an odd number. Like 83rd AVE is 83 blocks west of Central.
-Anything East of Central is a ST and is even number. 38th ST is 38 blocks east of Central.
Minor exception being 7th st.

This might help if looking for places. I'm not sure if this applies to Goodyear, that is a little bit on the outskirts.
