I have a trendware 10/20 and get downloads of 110 kbs (grandjunction) on my cable but my friend gets 350 he has a 10/100 and live in (dallas) why could this be they are both @home would a new nic be faster or is it the isp?

most likely it's the isp. with cable modems it all depends on how many people in your neighborhood have cable service. You all share a node and if more people in your neighbohood have cable then your service will be slower than your friend's.

It's the ISP. Your NIC is probably 10/100BaseT.

10BaseT = 10 Mbps
T1 line = 1.544 Mbps

Your cable modem is probably in the range of around a T1 line for download speed, so as you can see, you're not even beginning to push its' limits. Fingers is right about more people on your node.

Ask your Cable company to widen the bandwidth - IT WILL TAKE SEVERAL DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but it will happen.
