NIC problem

I changed my speed settings about 3 weeks ago from auto negotiate to 100MB forced speed just to see if there will be any difference. The Nic by the way is build in gigabit nforce controller on the asus motherboard.
Last weekend I was having problem with my cable internet. My modem testing showed 50% of packet loss. I got a new modem, did not helped. So I have Comcast tech coming tomorrow to test the lines, but now I have a problem with my NIC since I decided to change the settings again to 10mb and auto, but the NIC won?t respond. I'm getting a message- local area cable not connected, no mater what speed I change it to. How do I wake this NIC up?

1. delete it from device manager
2. reboot
3. reinstall the drivers
4. never mess with the settings again
5 ...
6. profit
