nic problem, freezing system every few sconds

this started happening seemingly out of the blue. with the nic plugged into the hub, the system freezes eveery few seconds. the second you unplug it, it stops. tried a different cable, different port on the hub. we use them all so i know they work.
tried uninstalling the nic and the whole thing freezez up. and it freezes trying to install new nforce drivers at the ethernet part.

im thinking its hardware.

anyone ever seen this before?

Collisions on the network maybe. Is the hub 10 or 100MB? Have you tried setting speed and/or duplex settings on the nic?

10/100 netgear. my router broke so been using this in the meantime.

ill try changing the duplex.

i installed a nic and disabled the onboard nic and it stopped doing it. so i guess it was either a driver or hardware issue.
