NIC or XP problem

i have a linksys NIC that only works in winxp sometimes. turn on comp, wont connect to internet, uninstall nic, reboot, and then it will connect. if i reboot or shutdown, it wont work next startup unless i uninstall, reboot, etc. im assuming its a winxp problem, as i dual boot in mandrake, and it has no problems there.

any idea what i should look for in winxp? a corrupt file maybe? ive reinstalled the drivers, put it in a different pci slot, its seated securely, etc.

TIA

Check XP's System Event Log and see if you're getting DHCP errors when your Internet doesn't work. Do you see any other errors in the log?
