I installed a NIC (netgear FA310tx) into my PC hooked it up to a home network.

The NODE ID that shows up in my diagnostics program does NOT match what they tell me it should be.

The PC can not locate the network. The TCPIP adapter does not show up when I do a WINIPCFG. Only the PPP adapter shows up.
My NIC is not sharing the IRQ with anything (except IRQ Steering).

I tried:
- switching PnP OS to OFF in my BIos and re-installing everything.
- clearing the TCPIP stack and re-installing TCPIP
- clean install of the NIC (manually deleted the drivers/removed card/reboot/re-install card+drivers)

I dont know what else to try.
I'm not sure what this NODE ID is all about but I have a feeling that is my problem.
It sounds like it may be a BIOS set-up issue, but I have no clue.
Does anyone out there know anything about these NODE IDs?

The diagnostics/help file that came with the NIC says the following:
'If the Node ID appearing on the screen does not begin with "00A0CC"
or "004005", the adapter card may not be configured correctly by
the system BIOS. Check with the "PnP OS" setting on the system
BIOS and make sure that it is set to "OFF"'
My Node ID is: 00 02 E3 08 C1 9C.
