Any recommendations on NIC's for a Compaq 17XL260 Laptop? Its only got the one slot in it, so those dongleless NICS wouldn't be a problem. Any recommendations would be great!

I personally have the linksis Etherfast 10/100 CardBus card. I havent had a problem with it yet.....

Would you happen to have the Model # on that? I was at Best Buy the other day, and they had two or three Linksys PCMCIA cards

Well depends do you have a cardbus. The LINKSYS card has two models that have no dongle. It's the PCM100 -16 bit 10/100 PC Card. Which I sell for 48 dollars. So look for it around that price. The second model is the PCM200 - which is the -32 bit Cardbus 10/000 PC Card. I sell that for 59 dollars. Both are good cards, depending on your needs.

Now if you wanted the dongle...just add pc to the end of the model numbers PCMPC100 is the 16 bit and the PCMPC200 is the 32 bit with the dongle.

3Coms are good too...but a little more pricy, and if you like the x-jacks.

Just my experience....

PCMCIA is faster yet creat way too much heat...(even w/ my slow SR17)
USB is bit slow, but also draw less power.
