I've got Compex RE10TX PCI 100mbits adapater on XP 1500+@150x10. We tested our LAN speeds and I noticed strange thing,
sending/receiving data at 9.45MB/s eats 68-72% cpu.
Did some more testing and I'm bit confused now.
We all are using identical NIC's, for test we used netcps.
XP 1500+@150x10, SDRAM, WindowsXP, 68% load server mode, 72% client mode.
TB 950, SDRAM, Windows2000, 70% load server mode, 73% client mode.
Speed varies 9.3-9.8MB/s. CPU load is also very high while copying data (both share and FTP).
This can be coused by WindowsXP? I tried disabling QoS, doesn't seem to change anything.
Also is it normal that cpu is sow heavily loaded/better network card would use less cpu?
