NIC advice

I'm looking for the cheapest possible NIC's.
I need two of them to put into my old comp to share my cable modem.

Only requirements are 10/100 and PCI

I've heard that having two different cards works better than having identical cards.
Any suggestions.

Having two different cards makes it easier to identify which card is which when you are configuring your software. Otherwise, you don't know which card you are setting up and might need to scrap all your work and start over. That's the only reason to get two different brand cards. I think Netgear and Linksys are both great cards for the price. Actually, Best Buy right now has the Netgear 311 card for 4.99 after rebate. It's a great price. I guess you could get both of the same and go for trial and error. Also, this guy is selling the intel pro management cards for 17.50 which is a killer price. Check it out: Intel® PRO/100+ Management Adapter w/WOL $17.50 shipped Email him at: ivanlau@adelphia.net. Maybe you can get one of each! It's a great price either way.
