Went to Radio Shack to get a Nibbler and it rang up at $4.99. Could not find it on the web site but the Cat. No. is 64-823a and the item number on the receipt is 6400823. Thought it might help someone out since they normally go for $10.

ok, i'll ask. Whats a nibbling tool? When I think nibbler, I think of metal type shears that nibble through metal, hence called nibblers

They're not shears. They cut metal by taking out a rectangular chunk with a cutting die (?) that gets pulled inside the tool through a metal plate. They're useful for cutting large and/or irregular holes in sheet metal.

Mine is well-used. I think I might've broken something the last time I used it, as the die doesn't pop out by itself anymore. (I must've tried cutting something too thick with it.) Looks like now would be a good time to replace it...

It's pretty useful. I cut a square shaped blowhole on my case with one. It doesn't look as nice as a circle shaped blowhole, but my case isn't on display for anyone to look at. It's tucked away in the corner, so I cared more about functionality then appearances.

....then there's my 30% on top of that which brings it down to $3.50 & tax.
Ahhhh the perks from working at the Shack!

I own a Dremel and a Nibbler. My Dremel sits on the shelf when it comes time to cut a blow hole since the Nibbler makes far less mess plus its safer and quieter. Still need eye protection though.

Removed lots of fan exhaust grills from cases with a nibbler, then put on high-flow chromed wire grills.

I just got one an hour ago and the package says up to .046 metal and 1mm is .039 so it should work fine.

The Radio Shack in my area still has these on sale for $4.99 I have 3 stores in my area and the first two I called told me that they were OOS. I went into the 3rd store and asked for it but they were out, but I had the clerk check to see if any stores around the area still had any in stock. Well, it seems one of the stores I had called earlier actually had them in stock but the person who answered the phone didn't know what the heck I was talking about.

"You've got questions. We've got answers." More like I have a question and RS does not have the answer.

I picked up mine about 2 weeks ago and was surprised that it rang up at $4.99 when I expected to pay $9.99 + tax :)

It is a great tool for working on cases. Takes forever to cut anything cutting a 1/8 of an inch at at time. But still the price is nice.

I love when the small metal piece get it Jammed up. And hard to un jam!!! I actually thing it's a torture device.

I always cut all the holes totally out . for 80mm fans in customers rigs. Bought a good 80 and 92mm Hole saws. Quiets computers down a lot too. Worth it.

actually they got common batteries.......

Had a 2yr old cordless phone, battery dying...went to radio shack....three people there spent time looking for a replacement, even catalog....no go. Later that week, was at a Fred Myer store (electronics section).....checked the phone battereis.....look at that...a whole rack of them.....exact part# also. Thanks Radio Shack.....

Had a Craftsman cordless drill from Sears.....dead batteries.....the were three NiMH 1.2v...shorter than a C-cell, but same dimensions otherwise, soldered end2end...clearly marked Panasonic with part#'s. Went to radio Shack..... "hmmm, nope sorry...we don't carry them". Asked if they could order them? "nope" Called Sears, they wanted $20+9s/h for a replacement pack, emailed Panasonic....they told me to go contact the manufacturer of the tool.....

Anyways.... my rant is over....

FWIW, almost all of the tools in RS's line is being discontinuted and replaced with "new" stuff.

Unfortunately, our company does higher mostly peon's. We have one of the higher turnover rates on associates (last I checked).

If you go to the right Shack (IE, NOT a strip store) you can typically find some knowledgable associates. Mall stores typically have "elite" associates that are know more than the average associate.

As for the cordless phone batteries.. We stock over 30 batteries and can order just about any other. Sorry you had a bad exp.

Well, the store I went to that knew what I was talking about was a stand alone store. The first store I called was the one in the mall and the asscociate didn't have a clue what a nibbler was.
