NHT 2.5i speaker + Denon 4800 receiver deal on fire!

onecall.com and 6ave.com are both authorized dealer. They have NHT 2.5i for $646 plus about $70 shipping (53lb each not include package). Local dealer will ask $1300+tax. Onecall.com also has 1.5 for $315 shipped. They have audiocenter one for $240, two for $450 shipped. There prices are CHEAPER than lowest you can find on ebay before shipping.

Onecall.com has NHT 3.3 (123lb each net) for $2734 shipped, 2.9 $1545+$185 shipped (75lb each) but out of stock now.

6ave.com has Denon 4800 receiver (125W x 5) for only $1000, ideal to drive those 2.5i's.

These are not speakers for everyone, if you are not willing to pay $600+ on receiver, don't buy them.

good deal...now only if i had a winning lotto ticket..........all my money is going to pay for new car 🙁...................
bump for it though

The speakers are definitely a hot deal. I have seen that receiver locally for the same price though. It was d/c'd a while ago. It is unusual dor a certified denon dealer to have a decent price on the web. Nice find.

bump for an awsome deal if you are an audiophile.
i would have gone for the nht 3.3 but i already have the thiel 2.2 and they rock.

I ordered NHT 3.3 and Denon 4800. According to Stereophile magazine review, 3.3 is the type that "you won't compromise and regret". Great deal for the money. Local dealer will ask for at least $5500 plus tax.

Bottom line, order the 4800 and 2.5i, feel the difference.

Excellent deal...thanks for the heads up. I got the 2.5i...too bad shipping was $107 to Calif. Still, for $750 total...it's a phenomenal deal.

I'd like to sortof crap on this in a constructive way. NHT speakers are top notch, and you'll be very happy with them if you choose to purchase. After years of going through loudspeaker setups, though (NHT, thiel, etc) I found a speaker that absolutely blows them away, and they're in the same ballpark:

Newform Research R645's

They're ugly, but I'm amazed at their performance. I have recommended them to 4 other people I know who purchased them and are as happy as I am.

Newform will send you a pair to demo for 30 days, and if you don't like them just ship them back for a refund. I think they boast that they've only ever had a pair shipped back for an upgrade to a larger mopdel. Indeed, you'll see maybe one pair a year hit eBay, if ever.

Give them a look, you will not be disappointed.

Audioreview of newform 645's.

Also a word to a wise that the Denon 4800 is a 2000 model which has been replaced by the 4802 which boasts updated features. The most important of these, IMHO is Dolby Pro-Logic II which is MUCH improved over DPL I. (discrete rear channels, better channel separation, less center channel focus)...this only matters if you listen to a lot of 2-channel video sources such as TV/cable or digital satellite. This is an important enough feature for me to turn down this deal if I was in the market for a 4802-class receiver.

I'm looking to setup home theatre at my house and was wondering what sorts of cabling do you guys recommend and the best way to hide it?

They're better than electrostats in my opinion. The audioreview pages have comparisons from people with ML experience, though. Their design isn't really borrowed, it's just dictated by the ribbon speaker design philosophy that NFR employs. The vertical imaging is practically nonexistent (above the ribbon mast,) which is why anyone over 5"7" ish should go to the R645's vs the R630. I'm 6'2" and the 645's imaging is great for me.

Here's a newform blurb on ribbon film vs electrostats.

Here's a nudie of someone's R645 setup, not mine though.

His appear to have a mod called a KSU or KSU2 (kitchen sink upgrade) that purportedly improves the performance of the newform's. I'm probably going to go there someday...

The price on the 2.5i's is absolutely awesome. I have these speakers and when I say that I shopped them, believe me, I shopped them. I paid a little over $1000 a couple years ago and I thought I stole them. To see them for $650 makes me think there must be a pricing mistake. These are high end floorstanding speakers that demand good quality power. If you drive them with a mediocre amp, you'll get mediocre results. The more power you throw at them, the better they'll sound. I have them biamp and love them for both HT and music.

I've heard these speakers, and they sound great, a bit "bright" in my opinion.. does anyone know any place with good prices on B&W speakers? I know that they're very selective on who they sell to, but the speakers rock!

i have been eyeing the denon 3802 coupled with boston acoustics vr965s...
although a 4800 at the same price as 3802, even if its 2 years old...hmmmm
those nht's look cool too
makes my decision much more difficult, esp b/c i was putting off the purchase for at least another half year

too many deals on the forums! bad for the wallet 😛

If you like solid performance as me, buy the 4800. It is THX ultra, 125W (actual 153W) @ 8ohm. If you like features, buy 3802.

I wouldn't go too crazy worring about cables and such - never much of a believer in that stuff anyways and if you ask 10 audiophiles about their opinions you'll get 15 different answers - been very happy with ixos and Tributaries interconnects, Ixos coax and Ixos optical; Tara Labs Prism speaker wire (biwired). As for cable management, it depends, you can get an audio rack like Standesign - I have a five shelf rack with cable management built in (pre-drilled holes running along single column in the back) or you can do home depot route and get plastic cable management hoses, they work pretty good too. Just don't forget to separate power cords from speaker wires - bad humming and grounding problems if you're not careful.

Check out accessories for less
That's where I picked up my cables, stand & stuff - they usually have good deals. They're certainly much cheaper than CC or BB or any other superstore for regular Monster or Audio Research cables. Once you have your order figured out, give them a call and they will usually give at last 10% discount just for the asking - depending on how much stuff you're buying and they'll pricematch too w/in reason.

Another place to do your research is audioadvisor.com where they have good descriptions of items and stuff; but generally pricey.

Good luck. Let me know if you need any more help.
