I've been to the Snowbird Nationals and the Gator Nationals.

For the Gators, Sunday was the best day to go as it's the day of actual Eliminations and not just qualifying like the other days.

Elimination day means people that might make a mistake off the line, will still keep their foot in it in hopes of winning the actual race. During Qualifying people that that screw up will just coast down the track.

Edit: --

Top Fuel cars are amazing. You have heard or felt nothing like it in your entire life. You would be wise to purchase (or bring) a pair of earplugs. They shake the ground, and produce a pressure wave that hits everyone as they shoot down the track. If you don't wear earplugs there will be actual pain for the second they go past you. (No matter where you sit, you will feel it.)

Yeah, you'll see a lot of runs on Saturday, but no winning races.
On Sunday, final eliminations, all the top runners duke it out for the win, bikes included.

Well, you get 4 rounds of everything on Sunday....vs the practice on saturday. It's really pretty close to the same amount of time watching them on track, its just that on Sunday it actually counts...

In any case, I can't wait for August when they come to Infineon Raceway.... it's always a great show :)

Edit: You can just plug your ears too...that works if you want to hear announcers in between runs and stuff.

that's cool, I never been so this should be cool to see. I'll probably get some ear muffs for the little one and bring some plugs for myself just incase I need them.

If you value your hearing you'll bring some and use them. The first time I saw nitro dragsters at Sears Point I didn't have any hearing protection. I was in the first row at the starting line, I had a pounding headache till thursday the next week from the noise. But it was awesome feeling the power of the cars.

Had a decent time. Those things really haul some serious ass. Got to see ashley force race her father and win. My son liked it, but being 4 years old, it didn't hold his attention for long. So shortly after ashley/john matchup we walked around the pit areas, which was pretty cool.
