OK, so I get my hands on a LCD monitor to see if I can stand the ghosting for gaming (it actually isn't bad). I decide to try a few games of each genre... Counter-Strike, WC3, NHL 2002.
I install 2002 (install everything to the HDD), patch, and run the game. Splash screen loads fine, intro loads fine. Then I get to the opening menu... The video locks up. Sound plays fine, and the game actually goes to the "demo mode" because it thinks I'm not making any selections on the opening menu. I can't do anything while the menu is frozen... If I try to Alt-Tab or bring up the Task Manager in XP it takes a while for it to register. It also succeeds in slowing my PC to a dead crawl.
I'm running XP Pro. P4 1.6A at 2.3, 512 MB RAM, GF4 ti4400. I though maybe my gamepad was screwy in XP (hadn't tried it yet), but it won't work if it is plugged in or not.
Anyone have any tips?
