Oh a web based pissing match I haven't seen one of these in about a month and a half. I would think that they could have a little better reasoning then saying "hey you said use ExplorerPE and cracked the nvcpl.dll just like we did". Besides the instructions on how to use it, I don't see much similarity in the two snippets. Actually I don't think if they followed their instruction on looking this information up that they need to link them in the first place, and as un heard of to me and apparently Kristopher, I would assume that someone may have mentioned to him from lessons learned fro this site on what file to crack. Sorry ngohq I don't think you have much of a leg to stand on here.

comment from the administrator in the discussion thread on thier forums:
Also it shows you how big ngohq.com is, when anandtech is stealing news from us, and taking credit for them, that just shows us how much better we are.

what a joke, I think they are just jealous of AT's userbase and wanted to bring attention to thier desolate website. talk about publicity stunts...

What morons.

They are attempting to milk this BS for all it's worth

Even if the users that AT got the info from got it from that site, that's not AT's fault.

Yeah I already sent them an email, which they then proceeded to repost on their website. I also already gave them a link at the bottom of the article. We (obviously) did not copy their article, nor would we want to. Our info came straight from you guys over GTalk.

This is only about the billionth time some no name website claimed an "Insider" article was copied, and not surprisingly the first thing ngotech did was repost the email (well at least my response to the email, not their portion of it), and then write a long sob story. Unfortunately this will be their highest traffic day all year!

You know what I found unfortunate? Their forum topic discussing the blatant plagiarism included 3 people whining back and forth to each other. :D :D

Here's what I posted in their forum:

Before you guys beat your chests about ?professionalism,? I think your sense of professionalism would require you to take a minute and think like an adult. Lets take a look at these ?proofs.?

I think there clearly isn?t ?plagiarism? because the information both sites found is contained in a publicly-released video-card driver. It?s there for anyone you cares to look and write about.

Both sites looked inside the driver
They found references to potentially new video cards
They published their findings & speculations about what the information meant.
The texts of each article were clearly different.
NGOHQ might have the right to claim they found it first.
Anandtech isn?t claiming it found it first.

So where?s the ?plagiarism??

If I?m a math wiz trying to compute the value of Pi, and publish an article on what I think the value is, I?m not ?plagiarizing? you if you did the same thing the day before, unbeknownst me. It still isn?t ?plagiarism? if we reached the same result, because the method & the text would be different.

It would be plagiarizing if someone at Anandtech read your article and copied it, but since it appears on 1st reading that this didn?t happen, I think you owe Anandtech an apology.

Bottom-line: If both NGOHQ and Anandtech publishes articles on the same subject, and the Anandtech gets thousands of hits while the NGOHQ get hundreds, I think the only ?proofs? that are obvious is that you be jealous.

Bah after working journalism in high school and part of college if that's plagiarism then I'm the queen of England, president of the moon and I've managed to hack the X1800XT and run it in SLI.... What a load of crock....I vote you should sue them for libel quite honestly.

Or if you want to get as silly and immature as them claim it defamed your character and caused untold emotional damages of which only millions of dollars of money can fix....:p

That's got to be the stupidiest story I've read in awhile. Both astronomers are looking at the sky and see the same thing. How is that plagairism? If astronomer A saw it first but only told his friends, then he's just an idiot, not a tragic hero. If A told B about the star without B seeing anything, and B passes off the discovery as his own, then that is plagairism.

Are your 15 minutes over yet?

The main reason why people are bashing you is:

- you haven't shown any no proof that the people associated with this site are the source of anandtech's articles (the 'clever users')

- Anandtech did not claim to be first, or to have 'discovered' anything first, or that the information was an Anandtech exclusive. There is nothing to admit.

- The information covered by both articles is within a driver file released into the public domain. Whoever writes about the driver 'first' doesn't win a monopoly on discussion about it.

You make good points Hooch, like I semi-jokingly said in my post above Anand should serve them with a libel lawsuit, since they are honestly attacking AT groundlessly and in such a manner as to inflict harm...I think it's a desperate cry for attention from someone with the maturity of a 10 year old

I thought that disassembling NV drivers was a pretty common way to find out about upcoming product and chip names. I know I've heard about this before.

AT should post an article saying, "It show's how big we are when a piece of sh!t no name site chooses US for a publicity stunt. That just shows how much better we are."

And I visit AnandTech because they don't do immature crap like this, even though there are probably plenty of instances where it could be justifiable. :)

LMAO for sure...this reminds me of work in the hospital, some people know the system all too well and just to get attention drawn to themselves they'll start being like OMG I'm having this major chest pain, cant breath etc...it's silly to fake something serious like a heart attack and you just take away from everyone else and develop a mistrust, I honestly hope this site dies....at least in the hospital we can just run an EKG and Troponin set and see that they are just faking it and then guilt trip them(and remind them that there insurance company might NOT cover this :p j/k of course)...too bad we cant smack these slightly immature flies down

I think AT did what they should have. At the end of the article, they simply said, that another website did something similar to this as well. NGOHQ users and editors can choke on it.
