NFS5 & DirectX

I got the NFS5 (Porche Unleashed) game, and I get a Directx7.0 error whenver I try to play the game. I can get to the main menu, pick my car, track, opponant, but can't launch the actual game. I have DirectX 8.0a installed, could that be causing the problem?

what happens? crashes back to desktop, freezes, has visual anomalies?

When I click "race" a window pops up and i get the following error:

DX7_createzbuffer, CreateSurface failure! DX7 Error Code: DDERR_INVALIDPARAMS (80070057) File \3rash\dx7\dx7dev.c, LINE 1070 [File=9null0, LINE=0]

directX 7 z-buffer error I think...

Weird, never had that. I have NFS5 with directX 8.0a and it works fine. I'd try reinstalling my video card drivers, directx 8.0a and the game if it still doesn't work.

I suppose your 3D cars is the Radeon yes?

Go into display properties and on the Direct3D tab set it to a Z-depth of 16,24 and 32. Also set the 8bit stencil buffer to on.

Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed is one of the finest automotive games of all time.

Sadly, I too am facing the same problem with the same error DX7_createzbuffer, CreateSurface failure! DX7 Error Code: DDERR_INVALIDPARAMS (80070057) File \3rash\dx7\dx7dev.c, LINE 1070 [File=9null0, LINE=0] when I installed it on my new Asus G74SX laptop (Intel i7-2670QM, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M with 3GB GDDR5 VRAM, Windows 7 Home Premium - 64bit, DirectX 11)

I would like to request any readers or tech gurus to please give me some kind of solution either by way of settings, a patch or some updated drivers created specially for this classy game which is in a league of its own.

It runs perfectly well on my old Compaq Presario 7000 desktop (Intel PIII 1GHz, 256MB RAM and NVIDIA GeFORCE 5000 series PCI card).

It's unfortunate that these really advanced graphic cards and operating systems are not compatible to playing these older games like NFS 5 - Porsche Unleashed, Delta Force-Task Force Dagger and AOE to name a couple.

Please help.
