Just tried NFS-Underground and I must say it $ucks major a$$.

It looks goofy with the 'wet' racetrack look and excessive reflections in the cars.
Cars are ugly
Game play really is bad.
No damage to the cars.

Had to go back to NFS Porsche 2000 to regain sanity again. Now that game rocks.

The game is alright but these days I play it just because I like the music.

they should of called it 2 Fast 2 Furious the videogame. I think the Nitros and speed effects once you get faster cars is pretty cool. I'm on race 91 of 111 right now.

I think it's fun. It's not meant to be too serious, so it's fun, and provides a challenge at some parts. I've almost finished it on one PC (in race 100+) and am about 40 races in on my other PC. It's fun, not the best thing ever, but fun, and quite addictive.

I just can't get used to the rice theme.
I won a number of races and was hoping to get some performance options unlocked... what did I win? VINYL STICKERS!!

lol, yeah the whole "style points" thing is pretty funny. But you don't have to put the stickers on your car. You get the performance upgrades for beating races

I got Underground and SSX3 for christmas, and I must say... Underground is disappointing. I've spent probably 90/10 % of my gaming time playing SSX/NFS. Both of them are made by EA and both have the same kind of "feel" when it comes to the features, music etc. But SSX is just so much better.

No track variety, limited car selection, you have to unlock every minute upgrade detail... you can't just win a bunch of money and buy stuff (like in GT3), you have to win a specific race to unlock the purple neons
rolleye.gif
. All the races are linear, you have no choice of what you want to do at any point, you have to keep doing one race until you win to unlock the next. In true ricer fashion, the transmission setting defaults back to auto each race, even if you set it to manual previously. You have to rice out your car to get a decent amount of money, and all the performance upgrades are just generic crap like "street turbo" and "super duper performance race turbo".

Pick up SSX3, its a really, really fun game that is a mix between racing and tony hawk type trick contests; and the music selection is 1000000x better than in Underground!

Hahaha, yeah styles points.... LMFAO.
But then we get extra points for drifting, air time (jumps) and near misses.
The most useless part of the game is the 'Drifting' races. The sprints are actually pretty good.

All in all I just which it wasn't so ricey and over worked.

Yep, that was the pinnacle of PC Racing.

Maybe you can pick up an Xbox w/Project Gotham Racing 2 and join us in the pinnacle of video game racing. :)

OK give suggestions:

I need a game that has the feel from NFS-Porsche, Sports Car GT and such.
Cool cars, realistic, real race inspired with upgrades that are not made of vinyl and bright colours.

You may be right... We'll see in about five months. ;)

It definitely has some concerns, though... Online racing is limited to six cars at a time, no voice chat, no car damage, etc. :(

NFS isnt remarkable but its fun for what its worth. At least they tried to make it good, with different race modes and junk. If youre a realism junkie, theres supposed to be this F1 simulator by EA (I think) thats supposed to be really good, and theres 3rd party mods for it and everything... ah, here we go.. "It's F1 Challenge '99-'02 from EA Sports with the ETCC '03 mod (free addon made by the community)." taken from here hope this helps

hmm, is there a REALISTIC racing game, as realistic as, say, IL-2 is for flying?

I'm talking about full 3D cabins, as well as a great physics engine.

and damage model must be outstanding.

That would be a fun game, all the other racers seem too fake for me . . I mean, hit a wall at 120 mph, bounce off, get back on the track, and zoom away. and not having 3d cockpits . . err . . cabins makes them less fun, also. I want mangled cars, I want a peice of debris going through your hood to damage your motor, I want bits and peices flying off and running into other cars, like tires bouncing along at 100+mph, etc.

THERE is a game I would buy.

I wish they would make a Gran Turismo for the PC or at least a game very like it. I feel GT4 will have some limits by being on the PS2, it won't be that much better as far as looks go than GT3 was.
