NFS Underground: Slow FPS

im running the game at 1024x768 with everything high except for motion blur and light trails turned off.

im avg'n around 30 FPS, sometimes it drops down to 20 FPS, i find that very weird, slow for a 9800 np, however my 3dmark03 and aquamark3 scores seem normal

3dmark03: around 5,500
aquamark3: around 39,000

P4 2.6 w/ HT
768MB @ 333Mhz
ATI 9800 (380/310)

AA/AF could be killing your fps if you got them maxed, maybe. Also, do you have the lastet drivers? Could be that.

I have the latest drivers cat. 3.9

How do I turn off AA/AF?? There is no in game option that turns that off. In the display properties settings AA/AF is set as Application Preference

right click desktop, properties, settings, advanced, direct3d and openGL tabs

but your sig should be able to run it fine with AA/AF

I'm running it 1280x1024 2xAA 16xAF and it never drops under 30fps in my stock 9700pro.
Your system should be able of running it much faster. I'd try a system defrag, it sometimes helps a lot.
What about your MoBo drivers? Are they up to date?
