Is the first game I can't play @1280x1024 with AA enabled. I only use 16xAF(performance), with everything else set to quality. When I enable AA it slows down more than I want to. Is this engine really such powerfull? I mean graphics are really nice, but do they really need such a power demand?

no, need for speed has always had a bad frame engine. So does halo. By all means halo should run fast with all settings turned up on a radeon 8500.

I'm talking about the demo. Is it DX9, because some lighting effects are prety nice. If not it's an awesome DX8 game ;)

AA doesn't work unless you turn off Motion Blur. The graphics in Underground are really sweet, though I find that the roads are too shiney.

Yeah, make sure Motion Blur is disabled. Not sure if that affects framerate, though.

I haven't played MCII but I can tell you this NFS look like "Too fast too furious" film. It's awesome.

NFSU > MC2

1) Graphics, much better
2) Sound, better
3) Performance, much better eyecandy with fewer slowdowns(using 9600 Pro)

NFSU < MC2
1) NFSU has a set Track, there is no abilitiy to wander around like in MC2
2) Story(perhaps), MC2 has a story, I doubt NFSU has anything close to it

Get the Demo, you'll like it, maybe.

I really liked the music, reminded me of Dave Mirra. I played that silly game for hours because I enjoyed the music.
Ran very well with 9700pro at 1024 x 768 - 4x aa 16 x af performance setting. Did not try anything else and am looking forward to the game. The car handles very different then in NFSHP. :music:

just played the demo... have a 9600Pro 500/350... no AA/AF... but everything full... pretty nice... i don't know about the shiny streets though... and i'm not too fond of the handling either... but i think its better than Midnight Club... that game got ridiculously repetitive by the end... and stupidly difficult... and once you finish the game... its pretty much done with.

I agree, the streets are too shiney.

Turn off some of the "Visual Rice" in the game settings - Motion Blur as mentioned - and tone the AF down to 8x.

Maybe it's all those texture layers of graphics, Type-R decals, and giant wings that's killing your FPS. ;)

The graphics aren't really that impressive. Look at Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2. The cars are much better looking (no rice) the reflections seem more accurate, and the environs are more attractive. But this game, which I think is 1 or 2 years old, can make even my OCed Radeon 9800 Pro slow down @ 1280x1024, 8xAA 16xAF.

I think they are probably just poorly coded for performance. Also, it may be CPU limited, because NFSHP2 heats up my processor like Prime95.

i'm angry, i can't play the game constantly, i have to restart after every race, as when i go onto the next race the screen is black when the race is about to start.. computer isn't frozen, gotta ctrl alt del to get out, restart the game and try again.

i found out it works at 800x600 and below... i was using 1280x1024

Also using Cat 3.9. Not having any problem at 1280x1024. There is some patches. Running version 1.2xx. of the game. Don't know what they fix. My multiplayer does not seem to work properly.

Try playing a Multiplayer game, it should check for updates first.

yeah, definitely DX9- i played it with my Geforce4 Ti 4400 and it ran great with 1024 resolution and everything turned up-- with the upgrade to my 9800NP it still runs great- i wonder how come you're having problems- maybe its just the demo because i have the full version-
