NFS Server/Client Tuning...

Scarpozzi

Lifer
I'm trying to tune an NFS mounted volume connection. I've not dealt with it too much until now so I'm new. I've increased the number of client threads to 32 to allow for more connections, but the real problem seems to be seek times on the volume. When I try to connect to the volume, it will connect and search, but it will take up to 45 seconds to connect to subfolders on the mounted volume. Once connected, the connection is cached and it's much faster (like a click)... What can I do to speed things up. There are about 17000 subfolders on this volume on the second tier of the file system....and below that probably another 80~100k subfolders. If I could cache it in advance without killing my client box, that'd be swell. Thanks,
