NFS MW ...pretty much cheated me out of it

so im goin after blacklist number 8

im doing the drag race.....she beats me off the line everytime, but then i overtake her after the long left hander. but then it doesnt matter how fast i go this happens.....

a TV van pretty much blocks both lanes of traffic as it crosses the intersection. now i cant speed up enough to beat it across, ie move over to the left and nos it before the van gets there. so i jus end up hitting it. if i slow a little i end up T-boning it. if i slow down enough to let it get past.....she then blasts past me and i have no way of catching her since the finish line is like 3 seconds away.

how does she get past the van? simple.....she drives on the side walk......but wait why dont i just do the same?.....well i would if i could but im constrained to the two lanes of tarmac while she gets the full use of both sidewalks......unfair if u ask me

How can you fail to win off the line? That's pathetic.
Get the gear change perfect, then slam on the NOS and you can easily kick them off the line, and possibly go fast enough to get the the van first.
Use NOS early. And maybe upgrade your car some more.

I totally remember that drag race, that van was seriously pissing me off. What I had to do was shortly before making it to the van gear down once or twice, let the van get by, then start accelerating once it's rear bumper was clear. Don't waste your NOS early on that race, use it after passing the van to get back up to speed.

heh whatta you know....first attempt after this post and i win.....sods law in action....

i used NOS the minute the road became straight, and just kept my finger planted....i made it past the front of the van just!, then i nearly went head on into a truck but i did a last second save.......got more £££ to pimp my Monaro now

No point in saving, since you'll rechanrge a litt bit later on, and you dont need to save NOS in a 30 second race. Once you're ahead it's quite rare they manage to make the time back unless you crash.

The same EXACT thing kept foiling me every single time and I got really pissed. What you have to do is punch the NOS button as soon as the van gets half-way into the street, then switch to the farthest left lane right before you hit the van.

She didnt beat me off the line, ( well, maybe by about 5 feet or so ) I skip 1st gear, go straight to 2nd, and hit the NOS and hold it. Blows right by her. By the time you get to the van, it's easy to get right past it...

i had underground...i beat it and it sucked. i forgot what helps you launch well in that game. some games you can just hold accelerate, sometimes you have to launch at a certain rpm (always countersteer). no reason you shouldn't win the launch. i guess you could use NITRIOUS (stop saying NOS. Nitrous Oxide Systems is a company that had been around snice 1975...NOS doesn't stand for a nitrous bottle...) to help pass the van before it comes? keep practicing to get a better launch.

Im with you otispunkmeyer about the ai car being able to drive on the sidewalks and stuff and while we are stuck to a few lanes. I was doing this one drag race, i think it was the requirements for blacklist #6, I had to keep redoing that race because about 3/4 way through the race I kept ramming into this car. i try to go on the sidewalk, it wouldnt let me. few seconds later, i see one of the ai cars drive right past me on the sidewalk. Ea really screw up on that, totally unfair.

Speedbreaker can be dangerous if you try to turn with it in a drag but it does give you a few seconds extra to assess traffic.

You actually have more than just two lanes...instead of the normal steering where you hold down the direction you want to go, tap once for each lane you want to change. It'll try to pull you back to the center of the road so keep tapping.

Each car has a different "launch" point. Most are right after the "1" comes out in the countdown, hit your accellerator and hold.

i didn't use speedbreaker the entire game, I set it up for a button i never thought about pressing when i was in trouble

as for the drag races, just nitrous every shift to help pull you faster into the next shift, on the 8th blacklist i think i slowed down for the truck (shifting down) and then accelerated after it

meh, I just uninstalled it in a rage. I couldnt make a race but even with infinite NOS doing 300 MPH these guys where passing me. when you cant even properly cheat in a game without the CPU cheating along it's over the limit.

What're you talking about? You CAN drive on the sidewalk or the grass during a drag race....tap the directional keys until you're there and then steer as you normally would....

Is it possible to beat the game without doing the drag races? I am playing with an XBox360 gamepad (on a PC), and have yet to find a satisfactory control setup for shifting manually. I am at BL11, and so far I've been able to just skip them.

Hmmmm, I don't know the exact milestones for each blacklist. You can probably avoid all drag races since you only need about 4 races for most of the game until #2 and #1.

If you have to do a drag race to proceed, might want to switch to automatic for just those.

you only have to do like 3 drag races i think

one for the 8th spot

there might be 1 or 2 in blacklist 2-4

you don't have to do the drag races for the qualification of blacklists

i find that the xbox default works well for me: right thumb stick up=shift up and right thumb stick down=shift down

the ps2 controller is perfect, find a usb convertor on ebay and then roll, need for speed and prince of persia were plug and play
