NFS: MW: How to gain heat levels?

I'm now on #5 on the Blacklist, and I'm kinda stuck on heat level 4. Do the last heat levels come when I'm in the top 3? Or is there a way to raise them?

I wasn't able to get above heat level 4 until BL#3 I believe... but I didn't exactly stay on chases for extended periods of time either. I got to heat 5 after staying on a chase for 6+ minutes (and it's hard to stay for 6 minutes at this level)

AFAIK, you can raise your heat levels by changing the appearance of your car. I'm not completely sure on this, but I know when I changed my body kit to something more flashy, my heat level rose.

I don't know all of the ins and outs of this game yet, so I'm not fully sure on this one - I'm only @ #11 on the blacklist

If you've hit Heat level 4 and the heat bar doesnt increase, you are limited to heat 4 for the time being.

Heat 4 lasts longer than all of the first 3 heats combined in my opinion and its quite difficult to hit Heat 5 quite a lot of time (especially with a keyboard).

I cant remember when Heat 5 kicks in, I never went out to search.

The longer you run from the police, the hotter you become. I believe car speeds, the damage you do to police cars and the public increase your heat faster but Ive never played close attention... more interested in avoiding being busted.

You do not raise your heat level by changing your cars appearance.

Changing your cars appearance actually lowers your heat, throwing police off your trail.

Well, my last pursuits were about 10 minutes I guess I'm just stuck like rh71 said. Currently, I'm using a fully pimped Gallardo, I guess it's the fastest car for that level.

i still have my Cobalt which was my first purchase.

i guess i will have to give it up once i reach the higher levels? it probably won't cut it.

I sold my original car, because the Audi A4 lasted me a long time. (I got it as soon as I could, and with all the upgrades on it, it's my best car.. Top speed/handling are maxed, accel is just shy of being maxed)

I race with the Audi, but do chases with my 911 turbo s.

I think the CLK 500 is also an awesome car, used it before the Gallardo.

I got the pink slip for the Cayman Porsche, and that car is incredible. Definitely time to ditch the Cobalt.
