I found the omega drivers (omega 3.6 was seamless) very good for nfshp2, also the game seems sensitive to the aa af levels and find I have to try different settings with each driver version. Also when I first installed an audigy 2 oem - I had some conflict (i think) with nfshp2, I did not get stuttering but had other issues. Anyways problem went away using audigy 2 lz drivers.
Also enabling trueform improved image quality.

I have a 9700pro - so maybe not the same at all.

Modded 9700Pro? thats not possible to mod to 9800Pro as there are hardware differences. Anyway, try cat 3.7, I have never had a single problem with this game in my 9700Pro.

That was an optimization in some beta drivers, nothing else and were called mod becaude they showed smoothvision 2.1. Nowadays every driver has that optimization and just Omegas show that modding option, but is just a little optimization that has nothing to do with a real 9800mod, as it is physically imposible.

Good luck ;)
