Nforce4 query for WinXP

Hi,

I haven't owned a puter for a while so am having a few troubles.....

Just set up...

MSI K8N SLI Platinum
AMD 3500+
WD 250Gb, SATA II
WinXP

After I installed WinXP I installed the Nforce4 drivers from MSI that came with the mb. Now in WinXP the hard drive is showing up as a removable item in the system toolbar (like a USB flash drive). I can't find anything on the msi website about this. Is this normal?? If not, how can I check that the hd is operating correctly and in SATA2 mode??
