NForce4 networking problem

I have both the A8N32-SLI and DFI Infinity NF4 Ultra motherboards in two different PCs. Also have a Cat5e wired network, running at GigE speed. When using the Nvidia NIC on both motherboards, I get widely fluctuating ping times pinging internal servers. Anywhere from 1ms to 25ms. On the A8N32-SLI, I switched over to the onboard Marvell PCI-E NIC, and ping times dropped to a consistant <1ms. I've played with the NIC settings on both PCs, but can only get good internal network ping times if I'm not using the Nvidia NICs. Has anyone else run across this problem? I'm using the latest NForce4 drivers.
