What are or are there any differences between an Asrocks dual stat 2 and a board based on nforce 4 like the Asus A8N5X. What are the benefits from choosing one over the other? Does one network connection run faster, does one communicate to other devices slightly faster? Would a pc equiped with the same hardware run slightly faster ie video encoding (non gaming performance) and if so why?

With the AMD64 architecture having the RAM controller on the CPU not the chipset, there are no differences in performance of purely CPU-bound tasks.

The chipset "war" is not one on AMD64. It's all about features - choose whatever fits your needs best. You'll find much more differences in good or bad execution from board to board than from one chipset to the next.

And don't pay too much $ for brand name. My $40 ECS board is very stable at 270MHz FSB. It is also stable at 280MHz with more Vcore.

Im going to get a new video card switching from my agp 6800 to either a pci express 6800 or 7600gt. My current mobo is an Asrocks dual sata2 I was thinking about getting the asus A8N5X (hoping it would perform a little better) but i wanted a mobo with header for my 3 case fans(want to use the power for the fans from the mobo rather than directly to the power supply dual sata doesnt had 3 extra fan headers where the asus does i wanted to clean up the wiring in my case)
