nforce4 LAN will not stay connected

I've been troubleshooting this mobo all night and I'm stuck at one last problem - it won't stay connected to the internet. Removing the network cable can sometimes get me ~1 minute of network connectivity but then it seems to lose its connection - when i try to repair it, it can't contact the DHCP server.

If i plug the same cable into my laptop, everything works. 10 hours ago, before I installed the new mobo/cpu/vid card, my Epox 4g4a+ mobo had no network connectivity issues.

The network adapter, NVIDIA NForce Networking Controller, does not seem to have any problems in device manager.

I had this on my Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe...this is what you have to do.

Fresh install of Windows and the chipset drivers. I don't know about your board but the one I'm using has 2 ethernet connectors, if that's the case only install drivers for one.

That's what worked with mine. Was really fustrating, could stay on the net for like 4 minutes then all of a sudden I'd be dropped.

there's only one ethernet device on this mobo.

I decided that I may as well try a clean install. I took a second hard drive that I had been using only for storage, made that a single master, removed the old OS drive. Installed XP Corporate. Plugged in cable, internet worked for a few minutes (long enough to download the new windows update plugin) and then I got the "cable unplugged" message and it wasn't able to re-establish the connection to the server. The cable/network works fine, I just plugged my laptop into it to write this; also, everything is auto detect on the network.

Do I have anything else I can try before replacing the K8N Neo with a different motherboard?

I had connection problems with my NF2 onboard LAN,in the end I think it went faulty, best bet is to install a cheap Netgear FA311 NIC that`s what I did, also less hassle then RMAing the motherboard.
