nforce4 chipset fan "buzzing"

I just bought a asus A8N-E about a week ago. But now my chipset fan is making very loud noise that feel like a buzz (much like I would imagine a minature plane noise) I was wondering if everyone else experience this or if it could be considered a defect? And if its a defect do you think I'll get anything better if I send it back?

Instead of paying the shipping to send it back, spend the $5 on a Zalman NB cooler
Edit: Basically, I meant to say that it's uber loud either way so you mihgt be better off with the zalman 😛

It won't make too much of a difference even if you do RMA it, as Pentium Guy says, get a third party northbridge cooler. Zalman or Thermalright makes some nice ones. (I like the Thermalright copper one 😉 )

I thought passive heatsink was not enough with this chip. Beside I'm a bit scared to chip the corners of the chip...

well mine fan finaly stopped working. o1die how long have you been running without a fan and are you playing games? I can't read my temps so I don't know how close it is to dying...

Just curious, is the DFI ultra-D board chipset fan noisy? if it is, what solutions do I have other than zalman 47J(since it wont fit)? I perfer passive but if there are no other solutions, a 40mm fan is fine

Yo. Shut the machine off. Just go out and order a passive cooler, you're seriously screwing your machine right now. The nForce4 chipset runs pretty hot.
