are there any huge advantages that each chip posesses? i've read reviews and stuff but it seems like the only way to tell is through people that actually own motherboards with the chipsets. If you have either of the two chipsets, can you comment on them, any problems or other input would be great!! thanks

I have had both, K8T800 and NF3-150. Almost no difference between them in performance. Whatever you do don't buy a Chaintech, it has lots of problems. My current Asus is very stable after 8 months fighting with the chaintech, but it wasn't a chipset issue.

if you have any intention of overclocking go with an nf3-250 board as pci lock would be usefull. If not then differences are relatively small so look for a board with features/price that you like and dont worry too much about the chipset.

Agree, why not go for a K8T800 Pro or an NForce3 250?

I'd definitely go for the K8T800 Pro instead of the K8T800. VIA has a nasty habit of fixing pretty bad bugs in a new chipset release (KT266A, KT400A..).

I thought the K8T800 was slower than the NF3-250/SIS755 by about 2-5%. Not much but every bit counts.

I'd stick with the NF3-250 or SIS755 chipsets.

Well as far as I'm aware, K8T800 Pro is only available on skt939 boards. You're planning on going that route?

nope, i already ordered my amd64 3400+ and Asus K8V SE Deluxe, which is a great board for $114! Im really looking forward to seeing how much ass my upgraded system will kick :D i got this board because right now im running raid on my asus p4c800-e deluxe on a Promise Fastrack 378 controller, and this board uses the same one, so hopefully i wont have to reformat....i hope what i said was logical, otherwise i would have gotten the DFI Lanparty Board.....

I had a horrible experience with a chaintech 150 board too and in dealing with chaintech about it. People seem to like the vnf3-250 so I guess they fixed their problems, but I certainly won't buy from them again. I like the features on the 250GB so I went that route.
