Heres the deal, summed up drastically.
Bought 3200+ and chaintech nforce3 to go with my 6800gt. Horrible video probs and vid card WOULD NOT overclock period, yet it could fly past stock clocks on my other system.
Switched everything out, ram, cpu, psu, everything but the hard drive. I just could not get the vid card to overclock at all, more or less anywhere near it was in my other system.
Put in other video card, ati, and it flew.
Figured its a mobo prob. I got another mobo, asus, same prob. Got another mobo, Msi, didnt even bother to try it. Theres no hope as I found a thread online 14 pages long of people with high end Nvidia cards that can't get them to run right on the Nforce3 chipset.
Etc etc etc.
So, Im switching to socket 939 from 754 all together but I have one question... Is the Nforce3 chipset and mobos for socket 939 pretty much the exact same thing as the socket 754s, just different sockets? Which means I would have the same problems and should go with VIA instead?
Im reluctant to leave Nvidia but if I have too...
EDIT: ALso, and this is an important question, is the Nforce3 ULTRA that much different than the Nforce3 250 like the 250 is compared to the 150? Maybe ultra would work?
