Nforce3 and Athlon64 X2 - still no compatible boards

The MSI NEO2 NF3 ultra (NF3 boards are sckt 754 so you will be SOL) works with a a beta bios 1.9B5 r2....It is quirky in the bios and some things are not being recognized clearly...read out thread as there are minor things you just have to understand and you can have a rock stable system that can even OC!!!!

No official bios yet from MSI but it is rumored to be out within a month or less....I think they focused all efforts on the NF4 boards first...


MOst all NF3U bioses are likely to boot a X2 just fine...recognizing it correctly and therefore having the OS see it is 2 different things....MSI bios 1.8 worked just fine but only 1 core was used and seen....It didn't even recognize it as a 4400+ X2 at bootup.....The beta bios called it correctly at bootup...

The fact the beta bios was missing multiplier adjustments which we all know is not supported with X2's may be an obvious sign this is a very early beta of an official MSI bios to support X2's....When I used same bios on my Winchester the multiplier was also missing so I thinkl my assumption is right on the money...

I saw a list of boards that were compatible on a forum someone linked to here and my board was listed (Epox 9NDA3+).

Mine is running on 1.95... Get the 1.95 and chill. 3 days 24/7 stable at 2560 !!

Oops, meant to say 1.9b5. Mark and I are running the same bios on the neo2. I haven't had any issues in the past day. I'm not overclocking yet though. BTW, Mark, do you run a geforce 6800? I've always been able to overclock my old 3500+ and run prime95, but as soon as I use the graphics card, like in 3D Mark, it locks up hard. Even if I only push the FSB to 205. I tried locking the AGP bus, etc., but the card just can't seem to handle it. Does anybody know a way around this?

This is my work computer, so I just have a 9600pro, and haven;t even tried any graphics. If I wanted to, I do have an Abit AV8 (I think thats the number) with a 6800GT, and I could try it, I just don;t like swapping all the time. Also, on my 6800GT, I have to try three different drivers just to get it to work. I forget what version. I may look later. Not impressed with Nvidia drivers.
