I recently bought a new setup (check sig) which included an Epox 754 board and a 160gb maxtor SATA drive. I managed to install windows without setting up any kind of SATA drivers but noticed after install that the drive was being recognised as ATA-133 so found a guide on installing single sata drives that said that raid on the sata channel in question must be enabled from bios and that during windows install raid drivers (from supplied disk) had to be installed. I didnt really get this as I have one disk and I didnt think this involved any kind of raid array however I followed the instructions as the system did seem sluggish when accessing the hd. I setup a stripped array on the single disk and all went well.
My question is, if this is correct? I have read posts of people getting into a muddle trying to setup SATA drives on nforce3 chipsets because "All the instructions are for raid not single". Have I set it up correctly??
Many thanks!
