I came across the
Asus K8N-E DX NFORCE3 250GB here. It is listed but not in stock, and the price is obviously very wrong ($7). Still, there is a hint that it is coming. Not long agao Hardocp had some pictures about this board from a brochure or retail box.
I also read a post by Angry Gamer that the DFI NF3-250 board is coming but no gaurentee it would be available by the end of March.
I finally broke down and ordered the Aopen AK89 Max and an A64 3200+. I couldn't wait. Or more correctly, I wouldn't wait anymore. Mwave has a $20 rebate on the board for a net price of about $100. For awhile that will be fun to play with, and I hope to see 2300 MHz on air (it's a goal at least). I have 512 Mushkin BH-5 memory, an SLK 948U, a 92mm Panflow M, and, if it turns out useful, a Swiftech MCX159-A chipset cooler that I bought for my 8RDA+ but didn't end up using. The Aopen website says that the AK89 Max has working pci/agp locks. We'll see.
I was going crazy waiting for boards that may or may not have what I want with unknown availability dates. And there is always the possibility of early release quirks. So, now I am thinking my next window will be socket 939 or the new Intel boards (775?). That could all change, of course, if NF3-250 is a monster overclocker... If that turns out to be the case, then ....
